Oxytocin
CAS: 50-56-6
Oxytocin is the endogenous nonapeptide neuropeptide produced in the paraventricular nucleus. Studied for social bonding, trust, anxiety reduction, wound healing acceleration, and anti-inflammatory effects. 99.0% HPLC purity.
Specifications
For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
Mechanism of Action
Activates oxytocin receptors (OXTR) in the brain, periphery, and immune cells. CNS OXTR activation modulates HPA axis stress responses and social/affiliative behavior. Peripheral OXTR mediates wound contraction, anti-inflammatory cytokine modulation, and uterine smooth muscle effects.
Research FAQ
What non-bonding research uses oxytocin?
Beyond social neuroscience, oxytocin is studied for HPA axis stress modulation, wound healing acceleration via OXTR-mediated fibroblast activation, and anti-inflammatory effects in gut and immune models.
